40th ANNIVERSARY CONCERT – 23 SEPTEMBER

I’m really looking forward to the forthcoming concert celebrating the 40th Anniversary of my album Forest and Vale and High Blue Hill

on SAT 23rd SEPTEMBER at THE BACON THEATRE, CHELTENHAM, GL51 6EP 7.30pm (doors 7pm) – Tickets: 01242 258002 www.bacontheatre.co.uk.

Songs of Gloucestershire, The Cotswolds and beyond

with PAUL BURGESS violin and recorder, GEOFF MARCH cello and vocals and stunning images by MARTIN FRY FRPS

My album Forest and Vale and High Blue Hill, Gloucestershire poems set to music, was first launched in 1983 at the Cheltenham Literature Festival to wide critical acclaim. This led to a BBC TV programme, another Gloucestershire album English Morning, and the Edge of Day album with Laurie Lee.

Among the songs are words by poets such as Ivor Gurney, F W Harvey, Laurie Lee, Frank Mansell, Eva Dobell, and Leonard Clark, including much-loved songs like This Night the Stars, A Song of Gloucestershire, and Cotswold Lad. As well as the local songs – now on The Gloucestershire Collection CD – the concert will also include material from Johnny’s latest CD River of Dreams.

“A delightful collection” – MUSIC WORLD

“Outstandingly good… beautifully composed, arranged and performed” – TAPLAS magazine
