What a challenging winter it has been!
I’m really looking forward to some forthcoming concerts:
Mike Silver and I return to the Red Lion Folk Club in Birmingham on Wed 21st March
And then Hitchin Folk Club on Sunday 8th April.
On Friday 20th April I have a solo gig at The Bromley Cross Folk Club, near Bolton, Lancashire,
Followed by a charity concert with Paul Burgess on Friday 27th April in aid of Youth at Heart at Kings Stanley Village Hall , near Stroud
Details of all concerts are below…
If you missed the recent 3 song session and interview I did on The Folk Show with Kevin O on Radio Winchcombe (Monday 12 February) here’s the link to listen again https://www.mixcloud.com/radiowinchcombe/the-radio-winchcombe-folk-show-with-kevin-o-broadcast-12th-february-2018/

A big thank you to everyone who came to one of my two concerts at Cheltenham Everyman Theatre studio early in March, in spite of the aftermath of snow. I really enjoyed playing there again..and hope to return there in the future.
Recent news
Concerts and clubs – Recently I was at Barny’s Club for an evening of beautiful photo sequences by Martin Fry, followed by songs from Nicola Clark. Also loved hearing the Harpers Ferry band at The Gloucester Folk Trail, Damien O’ Kane and band at The Fleece Inn at Bretforton, and of course my favourite Scottish band Skerryvore on their recent tour. Such incredible energy and musicianship!
Then there were 2 great nights at The Carpenters Arms in Miserden – with young singer/songwriter Zoe Wren, and then Daria Kulesh with Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer, plus an excellent Irish Night at Minchinhampton Folk Club this week.
Music on TV – there’s a new Folk Show every Friday at 4pm on Keep It Country TV – on Freeview 87, Freesat 516, Sky 389 Info and guide www.keepitcountry.tv
The Old Grey Whistle Test live show on BBC 4 was a fine mix of nostalgia, and new acts like Robert Vincent, and Wildwood Kin.
On Vintage TV (Freeview 82, Freesat 505 etc..) there was a long interview with Georgie Fame, and fine live sessions by UK band Orphan Colours, and Nashville singer Kandace Springs
Loved the World Indoor Athletics Champs. GB won 7 medals…(4th in medal table but, in terms of number of medals, 2nd behind USA). There were gold medals for Katarina Johnson-Thompson in the pentathlon, and Andrew Pozzi in 60m hurdles. Laura Muir won silver for 1500m and bronze for 3000m, plus there were bronze medals for Eilidh Doyle in 400m, Shaleyna Oskan-Clarke in 800m, and for the Women’s 4x400m relay squad.
I was very sad to hear of the passing of Roger Bannister, Stephen Hawking,
the acclaimed Irish piper Liam O’ Flynn (from the group Planxty etc.),
and Ted Poole, the co-founder of Swindon Folk Song Club.
