*LATEST NEWS
Coming up this week on Friday 14th July I’m playing a concert with Paul Burgess in Gloucester – performing Songs of Gloucestershire and Beyond – at St Mary de Crypt Church 7.30pm – with local choirs joining us on two songs….tickets are free with a limited number left –so to reserve a ticket email: creativefield17@gmail.com
Looking ahead to September and October, I have concerts in Mid-Wales, Surrey, Kent, and Gloucestershire – details below and in next Newsletter.
I now have copies for sale of Gloucestershire Rhymes, a recent reprint of a collection of poems written by Edward Berryman in 1931 – and one I used in my research for Gloucestershire songs. There are 44 poems about many places in Gloucestershire, including ‘Cotswold Tiles’ that I set to music, and there is an introduction by Anthony Boden. The book is sold in aid of The Hop Skip & Jump Play & Support Centre for children with life-threatening illnesses or special needs (Seven Springs Foundation) and costs just £5 at concerts – and by mail order £7 inc post and packing. Please send a cheque, or for credit cards phone 01453 885088
Summer CD Sale! For just July and August, nine of my albums are discounted for over 20% for Mail Orders – these are Borderland, The Winding Stair, All On A Winter’s Night, The Gloucestershire Collection for just £10 each –
and
Line of Blue, Roll On Dreamer, Edge of Day, West Country Christmas, A Country Christmas for just £8.50 each –
Details below.
Thanks so much for your support at my recent gigs. Had a great time at two concerts with Mike Silver – At Boscastle Village Hall (with guitarist Joe Partridge), and a White Horse Folk Club concert at Highworth Church in Wiltshire – Then my recent talk on “My Life in Music” in Cirencester for the local Music Society.
It was good to see glimpses of keyboard player Matt Clifford (on stage and in studio with the Rolling Stones) on a BBC 4 TV programme about side musicians last week. Matt joined my band in 1981 and played on all my albums from then until early 1990’s.
Recent gigs I’ve been to include: the very underrated Jim Reynolds at Barny’s club in Stroud; local singers Hattie Briggs, Emi McDade, Sophronie, and Ethemia at a busking event; and the launch of Sophronie’s 2nd album.
On a sad note – my thoughts are with all the victims, and the families and friends, and everyone affected by The Grenfell Tower fire disaster in London.

*FEEDBACK I would love to have your feedback – here are the latest…
“Thanks for your E-Newsletter. We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed your concert at Poynton at the end of May. We hope to catch up with you later in the year.” – J and P.O in Lancashire
“Just to say what a brilliant night that was at Highworth! (As evidenced by the mightily enthusiastic audience) – I’ve always thought you complement each other well, but this was absolutely wonderful. Great choice of songs (some of my favourites, so I would say that) but you both seemed relaxed, and some great harmonies that I hadn’t noticed before really enhanced the repertoire.” – K.G in Stroud
“A huge ‘Thank You’ for the tickets to the Merry Wives play. We went (as did 4 friends) and we really enjoyed it – a lovely picnic, good weather (until a slight drizzle in the last 5 minutes – no dampening of spirits though), a great production, great performances, and absolutely wonderful music (no surprise there with your wonderful creativity).” E.C in Shropshire
“We visited the play “Merry Wives of Windsor” in Castle Doorwerth in Holland. We had a good laugh with super actors, and we enjoyed ourselves very much. The music was an important part of the play and so we like to know where we can find the songs.” W and M.U in Holland

SHAKESPEARE TOUR dates — July and August
“MERRY WIVES OF WINDSOR” by William Shakespeare – 2017 summer tour
Directed by Michael Dyer with music written and directed by Johnny Coppin
(the actors play and sing all the music- not me!)
A talented team of professional actors in a colourful comedy; an all-male, fast-paced, costumed production. Most performances are open-air, so bring low-backed seating, rugs and warm, rainproof clothing.
“There are many, many chances to catch this splendid production between now and the end of August, and I highly recommend you check if they are coming your way. Director Michael Dyer has assembled an almost entirely new cast of young actors, who rollick and romp their way through this clever and clear adaptation with high energy and abundant talent” – from Five Star Review by Avril Silk/RemoteGoat website
