Later this month I am really looking forward to concerts at EVESHAM Arts Centre on the 28th April

and on GUERNSEY with Mike Silver on the 30th – full details below.

I have just returned from a wonderful time at Halsway Manor in Somerset, teaching guitar, and playing a concert at a Le Jeuss reunion week along with Martyn Wyndham Read, Carolyn Robson, and Stan Graham. It was such a great event – very friendly people in a wonderful setting – and it was very hard to leave after 2 days!  I highly recommend that you look at details of the many courses and weekends at Halsway Manor on their website http://www.halswaymanor.org.uk

Last month I had a great time at these clubs and concerts –

Readifolk club in Reading – a big thanks to organisers Una and Colin, all the singers, and to everyone who came and supported the gig and bought the albums!

Churchdown Community Centre near Gloucester with Paul Burgess for a charity concert – where we played to a very responsive audience – a big thank you to Steve Wood, Eric Labrum and all at the local Rotary Club for organising such a great event.

The Wooden Horse Folk Club in Rainford where I played for the first time – thanks to Jim and Pauline Coan, June and Paul Olson and everyone who came along.

Cramlington Folk Club near Newcastle – sadly where the beginnings of flu started to affect my voice – a big thank you to Keith Taylor and everyone at the club for being so understanding and friendly.

Nature in Art  Rosemary Gowland has made a fine triptych of stained glass panels to show all three aspects of my song Forest and Vale and High Blue Hill. It is currently in the grounds of Nature in Art at Twigworth, Glos. And I really enjoyed seeing it recently.

Last month I saw one of my favourite Scottish bands, Skerryvore live for the first time at the Wiltshire Music Centre. Such amazing musicians, songs, tunes, and energy – DO try and see them somewhere on tour. Also I’ve just enjoyed seeing Bristol-based singer/songwriter Phil King with his band on their tour to promote latest album The Wreckage ( I played tracks on my 9th and 16th April radio shows)

A reminder that Mike Silver has just released a new album.  Silver Collection is an album of covers – with traditional ballads, jazz, blues, and classic songs by some of Mike’s favourite songwriters from UK and USA such as Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Eric Bogle, John Richards, and Ewen Carruthers. The album is on Faymus Records and available from http://www.mikesilver.co.uk

Borderland is a terrific CD!   Immaculate production, sensitive instrumentation and flawless vocals…. So a great performance! Plus I’m a huge fan of brass in folk (I played in Welsh brass band as a nipper). I think it’s so emotive. – E.J in Wiltshire

Just wanted to say a big thank you for a memorable evening at Readifolk. Loved the mix of old favourites and brilliant new songs. Do come back soon! – L and J H in Reading

I bought the Decameron compilation CD the other week; had to get my daughter Lisa in England to buy it and the get it sent over.  I’ve very much enjoyed hearing your voice on those songs again. Great listening still. Some of Decameron’s songs could well be recorded and used again now.  Timeless stuff.- J.S. in USA

The concert last night (at Churchdown) was really wonderful! Ronnaug and I enjoyed it so much, Paul’s playing was so good, Ronnaug especially loved his recorder playing. Your singing was excellent, and such a good variety – some I had not heard before plus several favourites. Many congratulations! Superb!  Oh, the Stanley Singers are including When the Morning’s here in our main concert, it is such a good song.  – S E in Stroud

Many thanks for a great evening in Churchdown last night, it was lovely to see you again with Paul, I hope he feels better soon. As we mentioned, Tracey and I hadn’t seen one another for 26 years so it was very apt that we chose to meet up again at one of your concerts, especially as we used to attend your gigs regularly when we were in our late teens and early twenties…….a long time ago now. –  H A in Cheltenham

Great show at Rainford.  Enjoyed by whole family – L.M in Lancs

Your wonderful songs echo in my head along with bits of Mozart – M.M in London
